081127-carver-bogs-3-70I think we all have seen pictures of cranberry bogs when they are harvesting them….bright red berries floating on the surface of the water in the bog.

We went to Plymouth on Thanksgiving day to wander through Pilgrims Hall a small museum with artifacts of the Pilgrims.  It’s nice because it is small (takes about 90 minutes) and well laid out with ample explanations of things.

After the museum, having a snack at the bay’s edge, we decided to drive over to Carver (8 miles away) to look at cranberry bogs.  As you can see they are not flooded, but I was impressed by the colors, which changed with the light.

We’ll be back at harvest time next year.

civilityI just got done reading about the death of a temporary maintenance employee of a WalMart located on Long Island.  The young man showed up for work this morning, and by 6:03 AM he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

That store opened its doors today, Black Friday, at 5:00 AM…the shoppers stampeded through the doors, breaking the doors off of their hinges, and while employees attempted to control the crazed shoppers.  This young man was trampled to death…he couldn’t get himself back up onto  his feet, crazed shoppers stepped on him and over him.

No one stopped…no one helped….they were all too intent on “getting the deal” rather than stopping and helping.

The doors should have been locked, and everyone should have been arrested and charged with manslaughter.  It certainly was a Black Friday for one man and his family, who paid “full price”…what is the matter with us?
